Fortune Beads

“Fortune Beads” is an immersive interactive installation that engages participants in a thrilling race against time. Players accumulate points by touching as many illuminated beads as possible within a limited timeframe, combining strategy, agility, and fun. The structure of the installation is inspired by the beads of an abacus—a simple, hand-operated calculating tool still used today. Many generations remember learning to operate the abacus in school, making this installation a nostalgic nod to the past.

This vibrant visual display and engaging gameplay create an unforgettable experience, reflecting the evolving concept of play and fun through the ages. “Fortune Beads” challenges participants to test their skills and compete for the highest score, captivating people of all ages.

I’m thrilled to announce that I am a part of this year’s Singapore Night Festival 2024! A big thank you to the National Heritage Board for this incredible opportunity, and a special shoutout to David Chew , Qazim Karim , Jason Leung , and past member Victoria Chua for their support.

My installation, Fortune Beads, will be showcased in front of Funan Shopping Mall. It’s an interactive touch reaction game, inviting all festival-goers to come, play, and see who can score the most points!

The festival runs from August 23 to September 7, 2024—hope to see you there!
